Sublimated dresses are not a new concept. Balmain, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana have created their versions of them before. However, because art lends itself to experimentation, there are endless possibilities of how you can approach dresses with sublimation printing.
Louis Vuitton Cruise Show in Rio de Janeiro this year highlights two possibilities — a more traditional approach inspired by Alicia Vikander’s silk printed dress worn at the Louis Vuitton Cruise Show in Rio (womanfocus), and a more experimental approach through a model’s sporty layered printed dress (fashionista).
Some designers decide to treat dresses like an actual canvas as an artistic approach, imprinting paintings upon the fabric for a beautiful, timeless look. Designer Svetlana Lyalina does it well, collaborating with Nikas Safronov to depict his vibrant paintings on a wearable medium.
Hope this gets you inspired to create your own sublimated dresses or expanded your horizons with what you can do with sublimation!
